Timothy & Barbara Bower

Barbara was born in Fort Gordon Georgia. She lived in Hephzibah, Georgia from age 5 months until 1988.

Tim was born at Biggs Air Force base in El Paso, Texas. After a short time in Georgia his parents divorced and he moved to Wisconsin. When his dad remarried, the family moved back to Georgia. Tim spent some time in southwest Virginia in Appalachia while keeping their home in Georgia.

Barbara had 8 brothers and sisters. Tim had one brother, one sister and one step brother.

Barbara and Tim met in 1984 and in 1998 they were married in Hepzibah, Georgia. Their daughter Michaela was born in 1994.

Barbara graduated high school in 1986 and Tim graduated in 1973. Barbara worked in a sewing factory for 10 years and then a short time as a security guard before beginning her career with Publix, which lasted 20 years.

Barbara and Tim moved to Dickson, Tennessee after Barbara put in a transfer to move to a new Publix store that was opening in Bellevue, Tennessee.

Tim says he has worked since he was 8 years old. His first full time job as an adult was working at a full-service gas station. Tim then worked at Murray biscuit factory, Borden Dairy, Colonial Bakery and baking at Golden Corral restaurant. He also worked a short time as a security officer. Tim received disability shortly after moving to Tennessee due to several health issues.

Barbara’s hobby is sewing. She presently owns Barbara’s Bobbin. She enjoys crochet, cross stich, needlepoint, and quilting but sewing is still her favorite. She also enjoys caring for her cockatiel and three conures that are part of the parrot family.

Tim’s hobbies are gardening and baking.

While living in Tanbark Camp Grounds Barbara and Tim met Richard Reifer who invited them to attend St. John. Barbara was working Sundays and could not attend initially. At one time Barbara and Tim were having vehicle issues. Barbara says without their knowledge, Bill Wehman took up an anonymous collection from the church and presented it to them. They were then able to purchase a vehicle. Barbara said St John is such a giving church and that helped she and Tim decide that St John was the place for them.

Tim says his favorite bible verse is The Golden Rule from Matthew 7:12. “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” Barbara’s favorite biblical character is Moses.

Barbara and Tim do not have any specific advice to give but Barbara notes that Tim has always been willing to give friends and co-workers advice when he was asked or he felt it was needed. He is always trying to be helpful.

Looking back at Barbara and Tim’s life today, they are most proud and what makes them smile is their daughter Michaela.
