Saint John Lutheran Church

Youth Group

At Saint John Lutheran Church our Youth Ministry exists to nurture young people in faith, fellowship, and service, grounded firmly in the teachings of Holy Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions. We recognize that adolescence is an important time for spiritual growth, and our youth group provides a Christ-centered place where students can ask questions, build friendships, and grow in their identity as God’s beloved children.

Our Purpose

Our youth group seeks to:

  • Strengthen faith through regular engagement with God’s Word and prayer.

  • Build community among young believers who support and encourage one another.

  • Prepare students for lifelong discipleship as active members of the Church.

  • Encourage service within our congregation and Middle Tennessee.

  • Equip families to nurture faith at home.

What We Do

Our Youth Ministry offers a variety of Christ-centered opportunities:

  • Bi-Weekly gatherings with Bible study, discussion, and fellowship.

  • Service projects that allow students to share Christ’s love through action.

  • Retreats and special events, such as lock-ins, mission trips, and service days.

  • Participation in LCMS district and national events, including Higher Things and the LCMS Youth Gathering.

  • Mentoring and leadership opportunities within the congregation.

Our Foundation

Everything we do is centered on:

  • The Gospel of Jesus Christ, who has redeemed us through His death and resurrection.

  • The Means of Grace, especially God’s Word and Sacraments.

  • The Lutheran Confessions, which guide our teaching and practice.

  • Partnership with parents, who remain the primary faith-formers for their children.

Who Can Join

Our youth group welcomes students in 6th–12th grade, whether they are members of our congregation or visitors seeking a supportive Christian community.

Our Commitment

We strive to provide a safe, encouraging, and Christ-centered environment where all young people can:

  • Ask honest questions

  • Grow in understanding of Lutheran faith and doctrine

  • Build positive friendships

  • Discover their God-given gifts
