Member Spotlight – Morgan and Skyler

Morgan and Skyler are from the same general area of Northwest Ohio, about a half hour from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Morgan and Skyler met at an end of the year high school competitive event. Morgan notes "you know the type they just make up to complete the required days by the state even though there is nothing left to do." Further noting that "our moms made us go to school even though we were both going to skip that day. We started talking that day and just never stopped". They were married December 31, 2020.

Morgan has a younger brother and two younger sisters and Skyler has an older brother and a younger sister.

Morgan and Skyler moved to Nashville in 2020 so Morgan could finish her musical education at Belmont University and could pursue a career in music. They moved from Nashville to Fairview in 2023. They resided in Fairview briefly and then moved to Burns at the end of 2023 where we have more permanently settled. They loved their Concordia church family but now live 45 minutes from there. They presently live 5 minutes or so away from St. John's, so Morgan notes "it made sense to develop relationships with everyone here in our local community."

Morgan graduated Belmont University in 2021 with a degree in violin performance. She now does music full time - teaching kids in Franklin, Lobelville, and Burns, performing with orchestras, quartets, country acts, and as a soloist and recording in studio and her bedroom. ☺ She is very interested in learning languages, traveling, studying herbalism, and all things like cooking/baking/holistic health/homesteading.

Skyler was a sheriff's deputy in Ohio and changed careers when they moved to TN in May of 2020. He is now an HVAC Technician. Skyler likes to work out, play video games, and read in his spare time. Skyler is particularly interested in reading books on theology and Christian philosophy.

Morgan and Skyler are both big animal lovers and like to help others out whenever they can.

When asked if there were any biblical figures or bible verses that they identify with or are particularly meaningful:

Skyler notes Dismas is his favorite biblical figure (he was the repentant thief on a cross) because "he is a good example of how we should cling to the Lord despite our past sins and shortcomings." John 11:35 is Morgan's favorite bible verse because "it shows how Jesus is truly in the trenches with us and that it is ok to grieve and feel deeply even if we have the Christian hope of Heaven. God grieves with us."

Please welcome Morgan and Skyler into our St. John family. They are an amazing young couple with many talents and gifts.
